Android 4.4 is Officially Named KitKat

Sep 3, 2013

Everyone kind of assumed that Google was going to name their next OS version “Key Lime Pie” because that was the most obvious non-trademarked dessert choice and that’s what Google apparently referred to the new version as internally. Instead, Google, monarchs of advertising, have decided to go the trademarked route and have partnered with Kit Kat to name Android 4.4 as KitKat. While an arragnement was worked out between the two companies, apparently no money exchanged hands in the deal, though Kit Kat is giving away Nexus 7 tablets now.

For Android users, this means 4.4 is likely due soon with Google promising that “It’s our goal with Android KitKat to make an amazing Android experience available for everybody.” Time will tell. I for one am excited about future Android versions Lemonhead, M&M, Nutella, Oh Henry, PayDay, Quench Gum, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup, Starburst, Tootsie Roll, U-No, Violet Crumble, Whatchamacallit, ummm…we’ll just skip X, York Peppermint Patty, and Zero Bar.
