Some of you may remember the disappointing Comcast XFINTY Mobile App that Comcast released back in December. Well, guess what? Comcast has done it again. Comcast released yet another disapointing app that seemingly does the same thing as the first (I’m as confused as you are).
From what I can tell, the only thing the new XFINITY TV app has that isn’t in the Mobile app is the ability to act as a remote control. Why they decided to create a separate app for one feature is beyond me but hey, it’s Comcast. They really should have just added this feature to the Mobile app through an update. To add insult to injury, the ability to watch TV is still missing! Does this mean Comcast will be releasing a third app to pollute our Android devices?
I’ve never been a fan of Comcast and it’s safe to say I despise them but, unfortunately for me, they are pretty much the only choice in my area. This XFINITY TV app just adds to my hatred of Comcast because of the fact that it gives me absolutely nothing new. Yes, it can act as a remote for your box, but only if you happen to have one of the few supported boxes. Otherwise your left with nothing more than a TV guide. Awesome! /sarcasm
Another disappointment is the lack of support for Android 2.3 and above. It may or may not work on your Android tablet and forget about landscape mode. So why am I even telling you about this app? For starters, it’s my job. Plus, there are people out there that will actually be able to take advantage of this app. Sorry, I’m still trying to figure out why Comcast felt the need to create another app.
Well, there you have it. Comcast released their XFINITY TV app and it is now available in the Android Market and it still does not allow you to watch TV on your Android device. They should have called it “XFINITY Remote” and saved the “XFINITY TV” for app number three. Comcast you can try changing your name but you still suck!
