Get Convenient Portable Network Administration Tools With ezNetScan

Sep 25, 2012

For network administrators who need a quick and easy way to check the status of their network and the devices on said network, it’s time to pull out that Android phone (because what self-respecting network administrator wouldn’t use an Android?) and check out ezNetScan.

For various devices on the network, it’s possible to ping them to check for latency, run a traceroute on the network node to check the path that packets are taking to reach the node, and run a service scan on TCP ports 0–1024. As well, the app can send a Wake on LAN command to sleeping computers that have the function enabled – while this may have some practical uses, it also means that computers serving as media servers can now be awoken without having to go and press a button. Convenience!

And just because you’re the kind of person who needs this sort of functionality in an Android app, doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice visual design quality, as ezNetScan is Holo-themed for Android 4.x devices, and it also has special layout support for 7" tablets like the Nexus 7. The app is available as a free download from Google Play.

Thanks for your review. I was looking for the similar solution. Thanks for identifying such a handy and easy application. I had a trouble with tracking my home wifi network. It helped me to track down the other unwanted devices.
