[Update] A Grinch, A Cat In a Hat, Indeed Android Has, Two New Dr. Seuss Apps

Dec 14, 2010

It would be safe to say that at some point in our lives we’ve been exposed to the workings of Dr.Seuss. His classic rhythmic children books can be spotted on almost every child’s bookshelf. With numerous screen adaptations, merchandise and even a theme park, it is only fitting that his legacy would continue entertaining children of all ages through newer technologies. That’s exactly how app development company Oceanhouse Media, Inc. feels, and that is why they created their popular Dr.Seuss digital children’s book apps.

These interactive and engaging apps for Android bring a new twist to two hugely popular classics, “The Cat In The Hat” and “How The Grinch Stole Christmas.” (perfect timing) Coincidentally I just recently published a review on a similar app and I have expressed how brilliant of a concept interactive children’s book apps are (did I mention I have children). I, for one, am excited to see these classic books make their way into fun and educational apps like these and am happy they are available to us on Android.

As of this moment those are the only two titles Oceanhouse Media, Inc. has released for Android (2.1+). However, they have released many other popular titles on iOS, which I can only assume will make their way to Android as well. These apps features original artwork and text along with user interactions such as swiping to turn pages, tapping pictures for zoomed words and also custom background music/audio and special effects. You can choose to have the books read aloud by a professional narrator or to read them yourself along with an autoplay feature. These apps are a fun way to promote reading for your little ones and are also very entertaining.

Both apps can be found in the Android market and are available for devices running Android 2.1 or higher. Each app comes with a price tag of $3.99 and the ability to move-to-SD for devices that support this function. If you are interested in these apps or information about Oceanhouse Media, Inc., simply follow the links below to get you on your way.
