Dec 31, 2010
Thank you everyone and have a HAPPY NEW YEAR! A message from your friends at Android Rundown and the 148apps network.
It’s been a wild and crazy year for Android. Verizon made it the “Year of the Droid” while other carriers made it the “Year of the 4G/Not 4G” wars. We saw Nexus 1 (true dev phone) and then we saw Samsung fail with its successor (don’t call them #2!). We got Froyo (Samsung missed the memo) then Gingerbread and we were teased some Honeycomb. 2010 brought us more tablets than Pfizer and Steve Jobs called us “Fragmented.” Let’s not forget the year Angry Birds managed to bring global productivity to a halt!
With so much happening the past year it’s no wonder Android devices devoured the mobile market and became the #1 mobile OS in the US. It’s been good times for Android users and there’s tons more to come (are you excited about CES?). I’m very proud to be an Android user and there is no community like the Android community (cause the Android community don’t stop). I’d like to take this time to thank all users, developers, manufacturers, news/blog sites and every other Android related thing/person that has made this a wonderful year full of excitement and innovation.
On a serious note (without trying to sound like a parent): As we approach the end of the year, and many of you go out to celebrate, remember to stay safe. There are too many pointless deaths caused each year from motor vehicle accidents involving drinking, and for us mobile users: texting while driving. Remember drinking and texting can get you fired, or a spot on the couch, but drinking and driving or driving and texting, can get you killed. Be safe this new years eve because the Android community needs you all. To end the year I’d like to share a touching video about the dangers of texting while driving (you may have seen it). So, tonight when you’re trying to find your way to the bar or party, put down the phone and get there safe.
