KickStarter Spotlight: Puzzle Nuts 2

KickStarter Spotlight: Puzzle Nuts 2

Feb 5, 2014

Fans of puzzle games are always on the lookout for their next vice, and that very well might be this week’s KickStarter Spotlight; Puzzle Nuts 2. A sequel to the very highly rated iOS and Android game of the same name this installment aims to expand on the core gameplay while still delivering a tight and immersive experience.

For those who are not familiar, Puzzle Nuts is, as the name suggests, a puzzle game that revolves around manipulating physics and the in-game world to get a handful of nuts into a basket. With so many different available items Puzzle Nuts definitely kept players on their toes and delivered a solid experience that is truly worthy of a sequel. As with most games of its ilk, the main objective is not to simply pass the level, but to complete it perfectly; earning three stars in the process. While this might not be the most revolutionary way to design a game, there cannot be much of an argument against its success, and the original Puzzle Nuts pulled it off as well it has been done.

Not much has changed from before, and most of the improvements are decidedly aesthetic with additional animated backgrounds and higher quality, 3-D graphics. Changes to the gameplay include a handful of different nuts with different traits such as weight and hardness. The gameplay region is supposed to become much larger with support for horizontal and vertical scrolling which should make for much more complex level design which should definitely improve re-playablitly. There are going to be four distinct themed worlds in this game with different backgrounds and styling to keep things fresh, and looking at the initial artwork I am very impressed by graphic designer Eric’s ability to render some gorgeous tranquil scenes.

Their project has been up for over 4 days and has only generated a measly £4.00 out of a £10,000 goal. With 22 days to go, I think that now is as good a time as ever to help out these wonderful developers who have put so much effort into creating a solid sequel that ensures to improve upon the original in every facet. So, for those who have not stopped by their KickStarter page be sure to do so and consider aiding in the continuation of the Puzzle Nuts saga.
