The Nexus 7 Gets a Camera App. Already.

Jul 10, 2012

The Nexus 7 finally has a camera app, as reported by The Android Site. It’s just a basic camera app, just enabling it for the 7-inch tablet which only has a front-facing camera. Google didn’t add a camera app to the device, apparently assuming that people wouldn’t have much need for taking self shots. Apparently Google has never been on Instagram. It’s something of a silly omission, because while the most ‘functional’ use of it is certainly to just video chat, people do want to have the option to take photos if they want to. Or at least one developer at MoDaCo willing to cook up a quick camera app was interested in it!

Yes, this app was created before the general public has the Nexus 7, though Google IO attendees have their hand on the device, and it is getting closer to being in consumers’ hands. Reviews are circling around the internet as well. We’ll have more on the device as soon as we can get our hands on one.
