Rovio is using 2012 to really springboard their standing as a publisher as well as the creator of Angry Birds. After Amazing Alex earlier in the year, now they have a new title set back in the Angry Birds universe: Bad Piggies. Not much is known about the game beyond that it will be releasing on September 27th for iOS and Android, and that it will give players the opportunity to play as the villains of the popular physics puzzler franchise.
On the technical end of things, the game is going to be powered by the Unity engine, according to Unity's Tracy Erickson. While the engine has seen a boom in the past year thanks to a wide variety of games having been released with the engine, this is a mobile gaming behemoth releasing a major title, part of a gargantuan franchise, on a toolkit that even entry-level indie developers have access to. It's a big pickup for the engine, and it should also lead to the game being released to many platforms very quickly. We'll have more on Bad Piggies as it is revealed and gets released.
