Here’s some big news for the Android gaming community. Today Square Enix announced the release of Crystal Defenders for Android. The game itself isn’t the big news, the big news comes in the fact that Square Enix has made their way to Android altogether. Square Enix develops, publishes and licences some of the biggest game franchises such as Final Fantasy and Tomb Raider. One can only hope this news means that they will start porting and developing hit titles to our beloved Android.
Crystal Defenders is a defense strategy game featuring jobs and locations from the popular Final Fantasy Tactics series. This tower defense game requires players to deploy units strategically to fend off encroaching enemy hordes and prevent them from stealing their parties’ crystals. The game features popular jobs such as Black Mages and Soldiers along with 240 stages of action in one of two different game versions: W1 and W2. In W1 players can learn game basics and then move onto W2 where the introduction of Power Crystals opens up new doors, allowing for deeper, more detailed strategies.
Crystal Defenders Story:
In a land ruled by might and magic, peace is ensured by the benevolent
power of the crystals. When a young moogle charged with guarding these
crystals learns of an evil presence gathering on the horizon, he calls
upon heroes from the far corners of the realm to join forces and stand
against this new threat.
Wielders of blade and bow, keepers of arts arcane, unite! As darkness
draws nigh, only you can protect the light that binds us. The fate of
Ivalice lies in the hands of…the Crystal Defenders!
Square Enix and Crystal Defenders have seen success and popularity across multiple platforms and I’m glad they have finally made their way to Android. I’ve been saying this will be the year of mobile gaming and it seems I’m not going to be disappointed.
You can grab Crystal Defenders in the Android Market for just over $7.00 U.S. Whether that price is reasonable or not has yet to be determined but considering their reputation I would have to say it will be worth it. So if you’re a Square Enix fan or love tower defense games, follow the links below for more information.
