AccuWeather for Android is picking up a host of ew features via an update that is rolling out now.

Probably the most interesting new feature is “AccuCast.” This allows a user of the app to report the weather conditions in his/her current location via the app. It also gives users the ability to check what others are reporting on the maps screen.

Samsung users with devices that support Multiview will like that the app now supports that specific functionality.

The new update brings social sharing option, photo/video sharing, improved widgets, local times on the Now screen, Follow Me for ongoing notification, dark/light themes  for ongoing notification and alerts bar and more.

Oh yeah… the app also gets a snazzy new icon.

The app has premium ($2.99) and free versions on Google Play.

It would be easy for AccuWeather to rest on their laurels with their app, which is hyper-popular with over ten million downloads from Google Play. However, with version 3.x of their app, they’ve recreated to be a much better experience for Android users. First off, the app is now conforming to Android design guidelines laid out by Google, so the app looks and feels native to Android. This means that it uses the Holo theme and is an incredibly smooth experience, while still providing extremely detailed weather information, from hourly and daily temperature predictions with graphs, maps, and weather update videos that relate to a user’s current location. There’s the ability to easily add multiple locations as well. The app is also set up to be optimized for a variety of devices, including the high-resolution Nexus 10. The 3.x version of the app is available now on Google Play for both the free version of AccuWeather and the paid AccuWeather Platinum.
