Shift Puzzle Game Review

Shift Puzzle Game Review

Feb 8, 2011

[Update 2/25: Handmark has since updated Shift to include a better control scheme. I’ve also been told app-to-SD support is coming. Thanks Handmark!]

Shift is a unique puzzle platformer originally developed for the desktop and now available on Android courtesy of mobile media company Handmark. In this minimalistic game-noir you find yourself being greeted as Subject 12378 (although the market game description and original use Subject 32763). You’ve found yourself the subject of a twisted experiment and are trying to find your way out. Using the games on-screen controls you must try to run, jump and “shift” your way towards the door while avoiding spiked death traps.

FaceFighter Gold Review

FaceFighter Gold Review

Joe the co-worker just won’t shut up about his grandiose life (even though you know his salary doesn’t permit such a fallacy) and you’re just daydreaming about giving him a fat lip (Which I’m totally not condoning). You know you could never do such a thing without having a tsunami of negative consequences ensue, not to mention the possibility that Joe may actually end up whipping up on you. How about that 16 year old Starbucks employee, or the guy that cut you off? Sure you could go grab your stress ball or maybe do some yoga exercises but the guys over at Appy Entertainment have a much cooler way of dealing with the blockheads in your life. Thanks to their funny first-person fighting game entitled FaceFighter Gold, we can all unleash our hidden fury onto the faces of our foes (or friends if you wish). Stay tuned for a face kicking Android Rundown.

Fruit Ninja For Android

Fruit Ninja For Android

“It slices!” “It dices!” And for one easy payment of 99 cents, you too can own this “fabricator of fruit fury,” this “slicing sultan of strawberries,” this reigning “walloper of watermelons.” So, what are you waiting for?! Click on over to your local Android Market and “Buy one today!”

Did you like my classic Ronald Popeil impersonation? No? Oh well, I tried. In case you haven’t heard, the very addicting & highly popular iOS game Fruit Ninja has sliced its way onto the Android platform. At only $.99, this ginsu game is a steel (get it? steel?).

Apparently the guys over at Halfbrick have found a long lost ninja scroll that clearly states “All ninjas hate fruit!” and Fruit Ninja is what happens when someone tauntingly tosses fruit in front of one. Very fun and very addicting, this game results in endless hours of unproductivity.

Tetris Review

Tetris Review

Ahh, the good ol’ Soviet Union. They’ve given us spies, vodka, the Cold War, and even Rocky IV. But I still believe their single greatest contribution to the world came in 1984 when they convinced all of us non-believers that tetrominoes could be fun. That’s right, I’m talking about Tetris. Twenty-six years later and Tetris is still highly addictive and reins supreme, holding the Guinness World Record of “Most ported video game”. So it should come as no surprise that Tetris is now available on everyones favorite (wink) platform. What platform is that? Wait for it.. A.. wait for it.. ANDROID! (what did you think I was going to say?)
