Samsung Announces Galaxy Note 10.1

Aug 7, 2012

Samsung has announced the specs for their newest tablet in the Galaxy line, and it’s the Galaxy Note 10.1. It features a quad-core Exynos 4 1.4 GHz processor, with a whopping 2 GB of RAM. The display is 1280×800 (the same as the smaller Galaxy Note, though obviously less dense), with a 5 MP rear camera, and a 1.9 MP front camera. Interestingly enough, there’s a multiscreen option where it’s possible to run two apps simultaneously in parallel.

Now, while it seems like it would be appropriate for the Galaxy Note to be an oversized tablet, it’s “only” 10.1 inches, which is hardly oversized. There is the Toshiba Excite 13, though. Really, the “Note” part of the Galaxy Note 10.1 is the inclusion and focus on the S Pen rather than the overall hugeness of the tablet. Though, it will seem rather oversized compared to the 7" tablets in the Android space.

The tablet is poised for its North American announcement on August 15th, and is expected to come in wifi-only, HSPA+, and LTE versions.
